Porcelain Thimble Jewelry Display

Porcelain Thimble Jewelry Display

I used to collect porcelain thimbles in grade school.  Odd, I know.  I can’t quite remember why I started–they have no real function, are sort of hard to find (due to their HUGELY popular status-hahaha no), and are too small to display well in a collection.  I found a pile of them in the back of a drawer a while ago and decided they had to be put to good use. I had seen some jewelry displays using bulletin boards and pushpins, but that’s not really my style. I bought a white frame and some embossed scrapbook paper at Michaels. After removing the glass, I jury rigged the thimbles to some cardboard backing with TONS of Gorilla superglue and thumbtacks.

I had some extra paper and wanted to display my earrings as well. I picked up a matching frame and replaced the glass with plastic embroidery canvas. Followed by a quick bordering of the embossed paper, the project was complete!  My necklaces are no longer terribly tangled, and my earrings can be located in the flashest of flashes.

Strangely enough, I wish I had more thimbles and could create a larger display with more spots to hang necklaces.  Ahh the perils of a misspent youth…
